  • How to Create Montage

    This how-to guide provides you with an orientation on what you can expect when you click on the Create Montage button.  In addition, this Guide will offer information on how to organize your photos/videos on your computer in preparation for your upload. We recommend that you use the Firefox or Google browsers when creating your Montage

  • How to Organize Photos

    You can provide us with up to 100 photos.  The order in which you upload or send your photos, will be the order presented in your Montage.  Therefore, your first photo should be the earliest photo taken and the last photo the most recent.

  • How to Organize Videos

    Depending on the Montage Package you select, you can provide up to 10 video clips to be included in your Montage.  The duration of each video clip scene should be approximately 10 - 12 seconds to complement the natural flow of the Montage.

  • How to Scan Photos

    The important principles to follow for a properly scanned photo are:

    1. Scan in preview first so you can properly crop the photo before scanning.
    2. Set the image output format to PNG or TIF which enhances restoration efforts.
    3. Set the output resolution to 300 DPI.

  • How to Enhance Photos

    There are many programs that will allow you to enhance your photos.  For this how-to, the free Photo Gallery program from Microsoft Windows will be demonstrated.  However, most photo enhancing programs function in a similar manner.

  • How to Edit (Trim) Videos

    For the natural flow of a Montage, it is important that your video clips are approximately 10 - 15 seconds in duration.  10 - 15 second video clips transition nicely with photos to complement your Montage. Now that may not seem long but you will find those seconds are adequate enough to capture the essence of the person. Again, we do not make home movies, we make Montages.

  • How to Organize Digital Photos and Videos

    This how-to provides guidance on organizing your digital photos and videos:

    a) on your computer for upload to our site;
    b) to place on a USB jump drive, Memory Stick, CD or DVD for sending purposes, or;
    c) to generate a download link through a reputable third party file sharing site.

    Guidance on applying text captions for your photos/videos will also be discussed.

  • How to Archive your Photos/Videos

    This how-to provides guidance on archiving (backing up) your photos/videos on your computer.  This will protect your original photos from editing changes made as some of your photos and/or videos may be removed and some might be renamed when creating your Montage.  There are three basic methods for archiving your organized digital photos and videos:

    a) Merely copy and paste them over to their respective decade folder directly;
    b) Archive by copying the photos back to their original folder(s) or;
    c) Create a temporary archive folder.  This is the preferred method.

    This how-to provides guidance in adding text captions to your photos and videos when creating your Montage.  Text captions for the opening and closing sequence are applied through the create Montage process.

  • How to Photo/Video Share using OneDrive

    This how-to provides guidance for sharing your photos/videos using an online file sharing site like Dropbox or OneDrive.  Both work similar in the way photos/videos are uploaded and in how they generate a download link of those photos/videos which can then be shared with us to create your Montage.

  • How to Create a Download Link for Online File Sharing (MediaFire)

    Before using an online file sharing site, it is important to compress the computer files/folders containing your photos and videos to reduce the file size and shorten the upload time.  This how-to provides guidance in sharing your photos/videos with a download link through an online file sharing site.  The two stage process involves:

    a) Compressing your computer folder of photos/videos for subsequent upload, and;
    b) Creating a download link for sharing purposes.

    The download link discussed in the above video to copy and paste in an email to share, is the same download link you would share with us to create your Montage.

  • How to Download, Install and Run Programs off the Web.

    This how-to provides guidance on downloading, installing and running programs off the web.  Most programs you find on the web will download, install and run similarly, however, you must pay careful attention while you install any program to avoid spam.

  • How to Download, Install and Run 7-zip

    To share your photos/videos using an online file sharing site, it is important to first compress the folder containing your photos/videos to reduce the size of the file and to enable a quick upload.

    The programs commonly used to compress computer folders are WinZip, WinRAR and 7-zip.  All these programs work in a similar manner. If you do not have a compression program on your computer then we would suggest 7-zip. 7-zip is a free open sourced program.
